Famalicão's Football Club has inaugurated its new football academy, located in the União de Freguesias de Esmeriz e Cabeçudos. The academy will serve around 350 young players and features three synthetic pitches, changing rooms for 12 teams, a club shop, technical offices, a gym, an auditorium, accommodation for players, and study and leisure spaces. Jorge Silva, the club's president, highlighted that the creation of this infrastructure is a sign of the sustained growth of FC Famalicão. The academy was built over a period of one year, with an investment of 1 million and 300 thousand euros. Manuel Machado, president of the Braga Football Association, stated that FC Famalicão is increasingly a sports reference in the district. Pedro Proença, president of the Portugal League, praised the work developed by the club in valuing the Portuguese player. The inauguration ceremony was attended by several personalities, including the vice-president of the Portuguese Football Federation, Hermínio Loureiro, and the president of the Famalicão City Council, Paulo Cunha. The club plans to expand the academy, with the goal of creating a training center for the professional football structure of FC Famalicão. The academy will be an important aid for the initiates, youth, and junior teams, which compete in national championships.
